As a healthcare professional working daily with breastfeeding women at Boston Medical Center (BMC), a Baby-Friendly inner city hospital with 1800 births per year, we receive frequent requests for information from mothers and fellow clinicians, on medical issues surrounding lactation. Breastfeeding: Conditions and Diseases is intended as a reference quide for our health care colleagues: physicians, nurses, lactation consultants, midwives, physicians' assistants, nurse practitioners, and breastfeeding counselors-health care staff at all levels who are working as we are to assist and support breastfeeding women.
