It’s already February!  This year is getting off to a great start.  There are a lot of interesting conferences this year.  I hope you’ve got the Hale/Newman/Wilson-Clay conference in San Antonio in September on your “Must Attend” list.

Happy World Breastfeeding Day, Week, Month!  I hope everyone has activities planned for this month.  My local breastfeeding coalition is holding a two day juried art show celebration.  The entries I’ve seen have all been wonderful.  The children’s art is especially endearing!

Hale Publishing is proud to announce the release of the 5th edition of Dr. Gail Hertz’s The Little Green Book of Breastfeeding Management.  Although updated and revised, this little gem still fits in your lab coat pocket.  An excerpt from the book is included in the article.

PubMed Citations includes the study on bias against mothers who breastfeed, along with links to other breastfeeding studies published during the past month on PubMed.  Reports in Breastfeeding in the News include: the death of Cornell University professor emeritus Michael Latham, who dedicated his life to researching breastfeeding and other issues that affect child health, the purchase of Bravado Designs by Medela, the cloning of cows that secrete lysozyme by Chinese researchers, information on a new breastfeeding bill approved in the Philippines, and information on several new research studies.
