This book contains some good information and there is a nice list of breastfeeding resources at the back of the book. However, several parts of the book make pumping breastmilk sound torturous and dangerous. The words contamination and contaminated are used so many times one would think keeping your pump clean would be impossible. It would be a full time job just sterilizing all of your pump parts if you follow her recommendations. For a full term healthy infant, that amount of cleanliness is unnecessary and maybe harmful to adapting the baby to his normal environment. As a lactation consultant I found it useful to read about the author’s experience and to realize how difficult it might be for some women, but I would not recommend this book to a new mother. The author uses the word stressed many times in this book. If a new mother reads this book it will add another layer of stress to her already busy life due to all the warnings about the harm she might cause her baby with unclean milk. Keeping instructions brief and warnings to a minimum would be more helpful...
